Lift tickets and passes A one-day adult ticket is ¥12,000 online, with the window price listed at ¥16,200. Youth and senior tickets are ¥8,900 and a child ticket is ¥5,800, all for the 2025-2026 season and taken from the resort's own pricing. Buying online is the cheaper route. Weather and snow forecast Rusutsu sits inland from the Sea of Japan coast, so the same weather systems that bury Niseko usually reach here a little drier and a little colder. Read the forecast below with that in mind: new snow totals matter more than depth early in the season, and depth matters more from February onward. How to get there New Chitose Airport is the nearest airport, about two hours away by car, or 2.5 hours on the direct ski bus (¥5,500). Flights from Haneda to New Chitose take about 1 hour 35 minutes. Driving from Tokyo is not practical: it is roughly 1,050 km.
When to go Rusutsu opens in late November and closes in early April. January and February are the deepest months; late March trades snow quality for quieter slopes and lower lodging rates.
How it compares with Niseko Rusutsu is about an hour from Niseko and often used as a day trip from there. It has fewer people on the same kind of snow, more tree skiing between its three peaks, and a single large base rather than four separate villages. Niseko has the wider choice of lodging and dining; Rusutsu has the shorter lift queues.
