Most Japanese rental shops operate on flexible "day" blocks that allow for free early pickup. --- 1. The "1-Day" Definition In many shops (like Rhythm, Spicy, or Central Snowsports), a "1-Day Rental" isn't just 9 AM to 5 PM. The Hack: You can usually pick up your gear after 3:00 PM or 4:00 PM the day before your rental starts, for free.
Why do this? You get fitted when the shop is empty. You take the gear to your hotel. The next morning, you walk straight to the lift. 2. Swapping Gear Did you rent carving skis, but now it’s dumping snow? Premium Packages: Most shops have a "Standard" vs. "Premium/Demo" tier. Yuki's Take: Always pay the extra $10/day for Premium. It usually includes unlimited swaps.
You can ride powder skis in the morning and swap to carving skis for the afternoon groomers. 3. Return Timing Be careful with returns. The Rule: Most rentals are due back by the time the shop closes on your last day (often 8:00 PM).
